Yesterday I didn’t have any coffee. It wasn’t by choice, it just… happened. I know, I know, it’s awful, and I paid for it dearly today with an awful headache and absolutely no energy.
Here’s the deal.
This past Sunday I was up at 4:30am, then eventually fell back asleep, only to wake up at noon to ‘officially’ begin my day (note to readers: that never happens). From 12 to 6 I cleaned the house inside and out, took care of a few projects, and made some dinner. Before I knew it 10pm had rolled around. I settled in for the evening, worked on some web coding, and fell asleep. Fast forward to today — I drove to the train station and needed $4 to park (It’s quite common that when Monday rolls around I forget to get $1’s for parking). I was going to hit the ATM, grab a coffee to make change, and then head over to the lot. But then I remembered I had some change in a jacket pocket, so I just used that. While I was on the train I started to get an awful headache… And knew it had to be from the lack of caffeine running through my system. At that point I unfortunately began reading about the effects caffeine and caffeine withdrawal have on your body. After finishing, I thought it might be worth it to take 4 or 5 days off the cup o’ joe.
Don’t get me wrong — I couldn’t ever give it up completely! Though I do think I should be limiting my intake from my normal 3 cups a day to 1-2 at most.
I won’t bother you with all of the negative things I’ve read about coffee today, as I’d never want to ruin it for a fellow bean-lover, so I’ll leave it here for the time being. I’ll also keep you updated as I continue my no-coffee-quest this week.
